“Without a map, a peninsula is 75% the same as an island.

I am interested in where I am geographically as a metaphor for where we might find ourselves culturally. I am intrigued by the ways we connect and divide with technologies. Working between the stubborn truths of physical location and the conceptual possibilities in the everywhere/nowhere of the Internet I use digital tools to ask personal questions with social resonance.

The work that I have been developing for the web in recent years extends my examination of these themes. The web work is all done in conjunction with physical work in galleries or site-specific locations.  I am not so much interested in virtuality as I am interested in the edges, overlaps and contradictions between the virtual and the real. The work in the gallery means one thing and then means something else very different when considered through the lens of the web sites I make for this work. It is in this area that my work is exploring new territory.”
