ROOM 282 LIGHTING STUDIO POLICIES

1) Anyone wishing to use the Lighting Studio must first receive authorization and be checked out on the equipment by the Photography Area Faculty.

2) Students must sign up in advance in order to gain access to the Lighting Studio.  There is a sign-up sheet posted in the Cage weekly, every Monday morning.  Students are limited to two four-hour blocks of time in the Studio per week. Exceptions are made only by approval of the Photo Faculty.

3) Keys to the Lighting Studio are checked out through the Cage.  All keys are due back to the Cage at the end of the hours signed up for.  If students have signed up for night or weekend hours, the keys are due back by noon the next business day.

4) There are three separate sets of lights in the Lighting Studio:  The White   Lighting Strobes, The Smith-Victor PL8 Hot Lights, and The Large Silver Photogenic Tungsten Lights.  The Cage will supply bulbs for all of these lights.  If any bulbs burn out during use, notify the Cage so they can be replaced.  The White   Lightning Strobe Lights are available to photo students only.

5) The modeling lights on the White Lightnings are NOT to be used as a main light source.  The modeling lights should only be used as a preview to set up lighting angles and then should be turned off.

6) If you use it, put it back.  At the end of a session, all lights should be unplugged and all equipment returned to its proper position:  All lights should be lined up along the east wall with their cords rolled up and secured with the Velcro ties, the lighting table should be in the far corner of the south wall, the movable backdrop stand should be along the west wall, and any auxiliary equipment (snoots, synch cords, etc) should be returned to the equipment locker.

7)  Do not tear any of the seamless paper. If you need to remove a   piece of paper, cut it with a pair of scissors.  Do not leave rough jagged edges on the rolls.

8)  When finished with the seamless paper rolls, re-roll the paper back onto the rolls.  Do not leave the paper unfurled.

9) Do not, for any reason, ever remove any of the equipment from the Lighting Studio.  REMOVING EQUIPMENT FROM THE STUDIO WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF ACCESS TO THE LIGHTING STUDIO.

10) When you are finished with the Lighting Studio, throw out any trash and   remove any clutter from the room.  The Studio should always be left in at least as good condition as you found it, if not better.

11) ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED IN THE LIGHTING STUDIO.  If food or drinks are brought into the studio, your studio use privileges will be revoked.

12) The Lighting Studio is to be used by APPROVED STUDENTS ONLY.  No one else is to be in the Studio unless they are acting as a model. If there are unauthorized persons in the Lighting Studio, your studio privileges will be revoked for one week.

13) When you check out a set of Lighting Studio Keys you will be issued an equipment checklist that you need to complete as soon as you enter the studio. This helps us keep track of burnt out bulbs and equipment that may go missing. ALWAYS FILL OUT AND RETURN THIS SHEET.
