Art History Graduate Studies at the University of South Florida
The University of South Florida is located in the vibrant Tampa Bay area on the state's west coast and boasts year-round sunny skies. USF is a large, metropolitan research university and a member of the state University System of Florida. USF's libraries contain more than 2.3 million volumes, more than 32,000 periodicals, and electronic access to state-wide collections and online databases. The Special Collections of the USF Library, in addition to housing valuable primary materials for the study of art and book history, regularly sponsors graduate symposia and exhibits. The Visual Resources Center maintains more than 13,000 digital images, 130,000 slides, and 500 movies.
Near the Tampa campus is the largest collection of works by Salvador Dali in the world, located at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. The strongest photography collection in the southeastern United States is located at the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts and a significant antiquities collection can be found at the Tampa Museum of Art. A major collection of Renaissance and Baroque art is housed at the John and Mable Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida.
