CHECKLIST FOR MASTER OF ARTS IN ART HISTORY APPLICATIONS

Applicants must have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited university or art school
  • Fulfillment of one of the following:
    1. A graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution
    2. A “B” (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) average or better in all upper division studies as a baccalaureate student

There are three parts to applying to the Art History MA program:

  1. A GRE General Test Score, taken within five years preceding application, is required (a total verbal plus quantitative of 1000 or higher is required for admission).
  2. GRE scores should be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the test administrator. To facilitate application review, you may fax (813-974-9226) or mail (see address on the top of the page) your student copy to the School of Art and Art History.

  3. An electronic application for Graduate Admissions must be completed and can be found on http://www.grad.usf.edu/newsite/admissions/grad_app.asp.
  4. Application fee must also be paid electronically. Instructions are given when completing electronic application.

The following materials must be sent directly to the School of Art and Art History at the address given above to the attention of the Graduate Studies Coordinator:

  • Two official transcripts from every institution of higher learning attended where a bachelor’s or higher degree was awarded.
  • Typed research paper dealing with a topic in Art History or relevant research.
  • Short essay of one to two pages explaining your research interests and goals for graduate study
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation for graduate study (each sealed in an envelope with the signature of the letter-writer across the seal)
  • Self-addressed stamped envelope if you want your materials returned.
